March 2025 Timed Sale
Thursday, 27 March - Thursday, 10 April 2025
The Catalogue for our March 2025 sale is open for bidding. The sale runs for 14 days, finishing from 6pm on Thursday, April 10. It covers 3-4 centuries of art and historical material along with a selection of 19th and early 20th Century photographs. Going forward, we plan to test our sales by running for 14 days, rather than 10 as in the past. We have grouped all entries into one of seven categories as under: 1. Watercolours 2. Oil paintings 3. Acrylic paintings 4. Works on paper 5. Photographs 6. Print & Graphics (all types*) 7. Other types of art * Prints include Screen prints, Engravings, Etchings, Woodcuts, Silkscreen, Canvas prints, Giclee prints, Lithoprints (19th & 20th Cent.) The sale is DIVIDED into two parts: Part 1: Lots 1-122 consist of all NEW entries which have not been seen at auction before and follow the grouping order above – Watercolours, Oil paintings, Acrylic paintings, etc. Two of the star items are the good sized Peter McIntyre oil painting of the Tongariro River and an attractive watercolour by Toss Woollaston, purchased from the Peter McLeavey Gallery in 1972 never been on the market before. Part 2: Lots 123 onwards consist of stock that has previously been offered just once before and failed to sell. Again, these items follow the same order - Watercolours, Oil paintings, Acrylic paintings, etc. The catalogue from our last sale (November 2024) still remains open and any unsold lots from Lot 340 onwards can be bought directly from us for, in most (but not all) cases for just 80% of the low estimate. Here’s a link to the November catalogue if you wish to check: https://auctions.heritageartnz.com/2411/catalogue. Just enquire about any lots that interest you and I’ll advise if still available. A recently added feature to our sales is that when you click on the auction link you will see a new heading called CATEGORIES, next to the VIEW AUCTION heading. Click on this, and all entries will automatically be grouped into their categories. You can also click on the various categories which are listed under the scroll bar. BIDDING: If you bid on an item and you get the response RESERVE NOT MET you can continue to increase your bid by simply clicking on the bid button until you reach the reserve. Once you see the message RESERVE MET you can stop bidding knowing that you will have won the item unless you are outbid by someone else. When this happens you will be automatically sent an email. In the closing minutes of the auction you should monitor the sale online as an email notification is unlikely to reach you in time. DELIVERY: Finally, a word on delivery for those who are new to our site. If you are not able to collect your purchases we continue to offer an inhouse packing/courier service on most small to medium sized artworks. Large or valuable works will need professional packing. Call for details. We can also deliver to a number of North Island towns at attractive rates without the need for special packing. So long as you are able to collect from me in Central Auckland (Ponsonby Road, early afternoon) I can bring your purchases with me to Auckland on my next trip (Tuesday April 15) and to Hutt Valley/Wellington towards the end of April. We can also deliver to Taranaki / Manawatu and Hawkes Bay over the next 5-8 weeks, Prices for this service are invariably cheaper than courier. I wish you successful bidding. Best regards, Henry Newrick Director
