October 2023, Timed Sale
Thursday, 5 - Sunday, 15 October 2023

Our October sale is a smaller than usual sale with just over 250 lots covering 450 years of art and historical material along with a selection of 19th and early 20th Century photographs. The reason for this being a smaller sale is that there are very few ‘repeat’ items in this sale which comprises predominantly new material. To find any particular artist or type of art please make use of the search bar at the top of each catalogue page. I have grouped entries into one of seven categories as under: Watercolours Lots 1 – 45 Oil paintings Lots 46 – 89 Acrylic paintings Lots 90 – 104 Works on paper Lots 105 – 113 Photographs Lots 129 – 149 Prints (all types*) Lots 150 – 256 Other types of art Lots 267 – 272 * Prints include screenprints (Pat Hanly, John Drawbridge, Marilynn Webb, etc), Engravings, Etchings, Woodcuts, Silkscreen, Canvas prints, Giclee prints, Lithoprints (19th & 20th Cent.) A new feature of this sale (courtesy of our software developer) is that when you click on the auction link you will see a new heading called CATEGORIES, next to the VIEW AUCTION heading. Click on this, and all entries will automatically be grouped into their categories. You can also click on the various categories which are listed under the scroll bar. The two oldest items in this sale are colourful first edition maps of Spain by Abraham Ortelius and John Speed dating from the late 1500s and early 1600s. Rather than including previously unsold lots in this sale, these have (unless returned to vendors), been left in the June/July sale and may, in most cases, be acquired at the reserve prices. If any item from the June sale interests you just email (Henry@HeritageArtNZ.com) with the lot numbers or call me on 027 471 2242 and I will tell you if the item is still available and the reserve price. Bidding: If you bid on an item and you get the response RESERVE NOT MET you can continue to increase your bid by simply clicking on the bid button until you reach the reserve. Once you see the message RESERVE MET you can stop bidding knowing that you will have won the item unless you are outbid by someone else. When this happens you will be automatically sent an email. In the closing minutes of the sale you should monitor the sale online as an email notification may not reach you in time. Finally, a word on delivery for those who are new to our site. If you are not able to collect your purchases we continue to offer an inhouse Packing service on most small to medium sized artworks. Very large or valuable works will need professional packing. Call for details. We can also deliver to a number of North Island towns at attractive rates without the need for special packing. I wish you successful bidding. Best regards, Henry Newrick Director PS. The watercolour on this page is a large work dated 1902 by Isabel Field, the highly talented sister of Frances Hodgkins. The image measures 55cm x 55cm and the overall size framed is 74cm x 74cm. I have always had a soft spot for this artist as the first artwork I ever bought at the age of 20 was a painting of Waikanae by Isabel Field.
