March 2023 Timed Sale
Thursday, 30 March - Tuesday, 4 April 2023

Our next 5 day art auction runs from 5pm Thursday March 30th and closes in batches of 5 lots every 2 minutes from 6 pm the following Tuesday 4th April. This is a much smaller sale than the last one with many of the lesser unsold items from earlier sales having been returned to vendors or held for a no reserve ‘live’ auction here in Whanganui on Saturday, April 22nd (Anzac weekend). Further details on this sale will be advised in due course. Our online sale which begins March 30 has a wide range of new material including oils, watercolours, early prints and even some rare framed stamps. Among the offerings are two studies of Guide Sophie by the well-known New Zealand artist Vera Cummings (1891-1949), a star pupil of Goldie. One of these is shown on this page. As usual we have grouped all art into one of seven categories and within that category you’ll find a range of different media. For example, in PRINTS & GRAPHICS you will find Etchings, Engravings, Woodcuts, Lithoprints, Mezzotints, Postcards, Screenprints, etc. WORKS ON PAPER cover art such as drawings, pen and ink pastels, charcoal, mixed media, gouache (when on paper), etc. WATERCOLOURS has its own section. To find a work in any particular medium just enter the MEDIUM in the search bar (e.g. Watercolour; Oil; Photograph, etc) In addition to the above categories you can also search the entire catalogue by an artist’s name and it will throw up works by that artist in no matter which category. Additionally, you can search on any keyword you wish, such as a subject (birds) or City (Wellington). VIEWING: If you live in or around Whanganui (or are travelling through) then we can accommodate, by prior arrangement, an inspection of any artwork where the low estimate is not less than $300. Our office is not open to passing traffic and we only work by appointment. Please call Henry on 027 471 2242. We’d appreciate a day’s notice of any visit. PAYMENT FOR PURCHASES: Following the sale you will be invoiced for your purchases. Prompt settlement would be appreciated. Our 15% (+ gst) Buyer’s Premium will be added to the hammer price. COLLECTIONS & FREIGHT: If you are not able to collect your purchases we now offer an inhouse Packing service on most small to medium sized artworks. Very large or valuable works will need professional packing. Call for details. We can also deliver to a number of North Island towns at attractive rates without the need for packing. Happy bidding.
