Inhouse ‘Live’ Sale Saturday, 12 March 2022 - 2:00 PM start

Welcome to this, the second ‘live’ auction from Heritage Art Auctions. Here in Whanganui, as with the rest of the country under the current ‘traffic light’ system we are now at RED. This means that on the day of the sale we can accommodate up to 100 bidders. Masks and vaccine passes are mandatory to attend the sale. Without vaccine passes our limit would be 25 which would not work for our vendors. In today’s Covid ridden world, many purchasers prefer to stay away from salerooms and place bids in real time during the auction, by telephone or by placing an online maximum bid prior to the auction beginning. If you do not have computer access then confidential maximum bids can also be left by phoning us on 027 471 2242 no later than 11am on the day of the auction but will also need to be confirmed by text (027 471 2242) or email (Henry@HeritageArtNZ.com) before being accepted into the system. We will then attempt to buy at the lowest price bearing in mind other bidders and your maximum bid. Where two identical bids are placed the first placed takes precedence. Lot Descriptions We have tried to give as much information as possible on each artwork including at least 2 or 3 photos. Often, buyers would like to know a little about the background of artists, whose works they are interested in. In many cases we have provided a biographical link with background info. The references come from SIX sources: Henry Newrick’s New Zealand Art Auction Records (NZAAR) Una Platt’s Nineteenth Century New Zealand Artists (PLATTS) Kate McGahey’s Concise Dictionary of New Zealand Artists (CONCISE) Robert Smith’s Concise Dictionary of Australian Artists (CDOAA) Find NZ Artists: https://findnzartists.org.nz/ (This site will tell you where and when artists exhibited. Google If the Biographical reference says (for example) ‘NZAAR at 116’ it means that you will find a short biography on the artist at Page 116 of New Zealand Art Auction Records. If you don’t already have a copy of this 184 page book you are entitled to a FREE PDF copy when you join our mailing list. The download link will appear after you join the mailing list. Una Platt’s book is already available online in PDF format. You’ll have to purchase the Concise Dictionaries to use these references. Google is self-explanatory. If we could find no reference then we simply say - ‘no reference’. Viewing Day All works in this sale can be viewed in the main Function Room at Heritage House on Friday March 11th from 10am-5pm and again on Saturday 12th March from 10am until 1pm. Registrations If you plan to leave an absentee bid or bid in real time online then you need to register for the auction online. If you are already in the system from earlier sales you do NOT need to fill out all your information over again. Just log in with your password and email address, accept the standard Terms and you are good to go. If there are any changes to your contact information please make these after logging in. If you plan to attend the auction then you will need to complete an ‘in house’ registration form on arrival (even if already registered online). You will then be given a large printed NUMBER which you show the auctioneer when winning a particular lot. Sale Time The sale begins at 2pm and is expected to conclude before 5pm. Payment & Collection of Lots All lots must be paid for before collection. As with all auctions there is a Buyer’s Premium. Ours is at the lower end of the scale being just 15% + GST. If you plan to spend a large amount and use your Credit/Debit card you may want to clear this with your bank beforehand. Most banks will allow up to $10,000 spending per day – but each is different. Payment can be made using VISA / MASTERCARD / EFTPOS / CASH or bank transfer. If paying by bank transfer please allow 24 hours for payment to appear. There are cash limitations so please enquire. There is a 1.9% surcharge on credit cards and none on debit cards or EFTPOS. If you are bidding remotely, invoices will be sent following the sale and we ask that collection (or shipping arrangements) be made within 7 days of the sale ending. For more information on shipping see our Terms & Conditions at: https://heritageartnz.com/services/. We can also DELIVER works to Auckland, Wellington and towns enroute for a reasonable charge (and less than courier costs). Payment and collection of your works can be made during/after the auction or from the afternoon of Monday 14th March. Before coming to Heritage House you should first phone (027 471 2242) to make an approximate collection time so that your purchases can be located and ready for collection. COVID-19 Compliance Unfortunately because we are at RED under the Traffic Light system, the wearing of masks are mandatory when viewing or attending the auction. You must also sign in when entering the building either through scanning or writing your contact details in the Register. As noted earlier, vaccine passes are mandatory for attending the auction but NOT for viewing. Best wishes, Henry Newrick
