Online only ‘Timed’ Sale
Friday, 3 - Monday, 13 December 2021

Welcome to the second purely ‘online’ timed auction from Heritage Art Auctions. We have tried to give as much information as possible on each painting, photograph or print. One of the changes in this auction is that we now include frame or matt sizes as well as the usual image size. Often, buyers would like to know a little about the background of artists, whose works they are interested in. In many instances we have provided a biographical link with background info. The references come from six sources: Henry Newrick’s New Zealand Art Auction Records (NZAAR) Una Platt’s Nineteenth Century New Zealand Artists (PLATTS) Kate McGahey’s Concise Dictionary of New Zealand Artists (CONCISE) Find NZ Artists: https://findnzartists.org.nz/ (This site will tell you where and when artists exhibited The Concise Dictionary of Australian Artists (CDOAA) Google If the Biographical reference says (for example) ‘NZAAR at 116’ it means that you will find a short biography on the artist at Page 116 of New Zealand Art Auction Records. If you don’t already have a copy of this 184 page book you are entitled to a FREE PDF copy when you join our mailing list. Una Platt’s book is already available online in PDF format. You’ll have to purchase the Concise Dictionaries to use that reference. Google is self-explanatory. If we could find no reference then we simply say - ‘no reference’. I hope you enjoy this catalogue. There is no public viewing of art in this sale other than for works with a low estimate of at least $300. Inspection of works worth at least $300 can be by prior arrangement or on the afternoon of Saturday 11th December from 2pm – 4.30pm. Because of Covid restrictions a maximum of 25 people will be allowed in the auction rooms at any one time – wearing masks.. Numbers will not be a problem.. I have positioned the more valuable works in such a way that bidding will close on these items from around 7pm on Monday 13th December. COLLECTION & DELIVERY: We request that you collect your purchases as soon as possible after payment has been made. If you live away from Whanganui we can arrange to post / courier smaller paintings and prints from our office – and will quote you for this. Larger or valuable works especially those under glass will need to be professionally packed and sent. In some cases we may also be able to arrange delivery to towns in parts of the North Island (subject to charge). Please enquire before the auction closes if you have any delivery questions. At this stage I plan on visiting Auckland on the 16th & 17th and Wellington a little later. Enjoy the offerings, Henry Newrick Director NOTE: This sale ends progressively on the evening of Monday 13th December, closing in batches of 5 lots, every 2 minutes from 5pm. Bidding will auto extend if a bid is placed during the last 2 minutes - up to a maximum of 15 times. Therefore if you are bidding at the last minute I recommend that you place your bid before the 2 minute signal to avoid it extending by a further 2 minutes. As with all auctions there is a Buyer’s Premium. Ours is at the lower end of the scale being just 15% + GST. Invoices will be sent following the sale and we ask that collection (or shipping arrangements) be made within 7 days thereafter. For more information on shipping see COLLECTION & DELIVERY (above). Payment and collection of your works can be made from the morning of Wednesday December 15th. I will be out of town on the 16th/17th and collections can resume on Saturday afternoon (18th) and he following week. Before coming to Heritage House you should first phone (027 471 2242) to make an approximate collection time so that your purchases can be located and ready for you. Payment by credit card carries a surcharge of 1.9%. There is no surcharge when using EFTPOS or Debit Card.
