Hine-I-Turama Ngatiki - artist unknown - Maori Maiden c.1836 Taken from Scrapbook given to the 'Misses Ritchie from a True Friend' filled with clippings and drawings covering the period 1836-1840. Both this lot and Lot 184 are from this scrapbook.

- Biographical: See Te Ara - https://teara.govt.nz/en/biographies/1h22/hine-i-turama-ngatiki. Hine-i-Turama was born in 1818 and around 1832 she was married (at the age of 14) to the Danish trader Phillip Tapsell who was 40 years her senior in his mid 50s. They had 6 children. In 1841 they were officially married by Bishop Pompallier (See LOT 60) who was visiting the region as part of his missionary work,
